Able Skips ~ Providing Reliable & Affordable Skip Hire Services in Lancashire
What size skip do i need?
When hiring a skip knowing which size is right for your needs is one of the biggest problems with the question ‘What size skip do i need?’ being one of the most asked. Hiring a skip that is to small can mean hiring a skip twice while hiring a skip that is too big for your needs will mean paying more than you need in skip hire charges.
Hiring a skip that is smaller than you require means you could also run the risk of overfilling the skip and having the collection refused on the grounds of safety.
You also need to consider where the skip will be located once delivered. If you plan to locate the skip in a small space then you might encounter problems if ordering a large skip.
Skip sizes are categorised by cubic yardage or tonnes. For domestic customers Able Skips offer three types of skips. The mini, midi and maxi skip.
The Mini Skip
The smallest skip Able Skips provide is the mini skip. This is classed as a 2 ton skip or a 2 cubic metre skip. If you are carrying out any small DIY jobs around the house or clearing out the garden, the shed or a small room clear out then a mini skip should be ideal for your needs. If you need to get rid of any larger, more bulkier items such as doors, furniture or large radiators then a mini skip probably isn’t for you.
The Midi Skip
The next size up from a Mini skip is the Midi which is classed as a 4 ton skip and holds 4 cubic yards of waste. Dimension wise the Midi is 1.75m x 2.26 and 0.78m in height. The Midi skip is more suited to larger clearance jobs or for those larger items of furniture or doors that wouldn’t fit in the Mini skip. If you were to equate the waste a Midi skip would hold into black bin bags then it would probably hold between 65 – 70 bags. If you are replacing an old kitchen or digging out the footings for a conservatory or some larger scale garden clearance or landscaping job then the Midi might be a more ideal option.
The Maxi skip or 8 ton builders skip as it is more commonly known as it is the size most commonly used by builders. It is the largest sized skip that Able Skips offer domestic customers and is big enough to hold 7 cubic yards of waste. The Maxi is ideal for all types of building waste or large items of furniture such as three piece suites. For larger excavation jobs involved in digging out the foundations of house extensions, renovations or complete house clearance jobs, you will find the Maxi to be the backbone workhorse you are looking for.
Due to its size, the Maxi features a drop down door to enable easy access to load the skip. Dimension wise the Maxi is 3.66m x 1.80m and 1.22m in height.
Making sure to choose the right size for the right job and your requirements will ensure you get the job at the most cost effective price and avoid overfilling the skip.
