Able Skips ~ Providing Reliable & Affordable Skip Hire Services in Lancashire
Can I Put a Skip on the Road?
The four legal conditions that must be met are:
Permit
By law a skip placed on a road or highway needs a permit from the local council. The cost of a permit can vary depending on the fees set out by your local council. Able Skips currently charge £31 if a permit is required.
Lights
By law any skip located on a road or highway must have lights positioned at each end of the skip to ensure safety at night or in low lighting conditions.
Cones
Also a skip located on a road or highway needs at least 2 cones situated on the approach side of the skip.
Skip Requirements
The skip itself needs to meet certain criteria such as being painted yellow on each side, having the skip owners name and telephone number clearly marked on it, having red and yellow fluorescent reflective markings which comply with BS AU152:1970 and must be collected within two working days following being filled. All of our skips comply to these guidelines.
On placing your skip hire order you will need to state where the skip will be located during the hire period. Able Skips can help and advise on any questions you may have and provide all relevant permits.
